Our congregation is very blessed to be a part of the Synod’s Companion Congregation Partnership with the Iringa diocese in Tanzania, Bega Kwa Bega, which means “shoulder to shoulder”. Our brothers and sisters in Makungu Parish are also a community of love as they share the joy hope and love of the Gospel. By partnering together, our offerings assist them in reaching out and sharing the Gospel in their community in Tanzania. The pastor recently wrote to our congregation:
“I salute you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I, Pastor Theophilus, of Makungu Parish and the church members are happy to send you these greetings. We made more than 3,000 bricks ready for building the church. Also, this year, we planted trees more than 5 acres and next week we may start to build the house of the church. We remember you all and we are praying for you. I wish you the blessings of God in His ministry and welcome you to Makungu Parish.”
We are also currently sponsoring six students from the parish (and would like to add more!) to attend secondary school (children have to pay for school after age 11). Here is an excerpt from a letter of thanks from one of the students:
“I greet you in the name of our Lord God. May the name of Jesus Christ our Savior be praised. I am very glad to tell you that through your support I am now comfortable studying since I can be supplied with all the school requirements. I always pray for you so that God can bless you. Convey my sincere greetings to all church members. Tell them that I am fine and that we are together in Jesus’ name. What a joy to be connected as brothers and sisters through Makungu Parish and Abiding Savior in a community of love.”
