Beyond our walls, Abiding Savior works in many ways to shine the light of the Lord’s love to those near and far. Opportunities abound for sharing Christ’s love in mission! Together we:
collect and grow food for Ralph Reeder and Irondale food shelves,
make prayer shawls for anyone needing to know they are cared for,
deliver Meals on Wheels,
partner with Quincy Treehouse for at risk teens and provide weekly meals,
host and support Growing Through Loss for those experiencing grief,
work with New Brighton Resource Center and Walk A Mile For Our Neighbors that work to provide resources and support to help prevent area homelessness,
donate funds and household items, collect winter coats for the Social Concerns Network annual give-away,
sew and donate quilts locally and worldwide,
support Luther Seminary, Lutheran World Relief, Global Health Ministries,
serve the evening meals at Sharing and Caring Hands each month,
participate in mission trips to build or repair homes (an intergenerational group is going to build a house in Guatemala this summer)

The Gift of Food in Backpacks
Abiding Savior Lutheran Church members support our local community by donating food, money and time for the purchase of the groceries to fill over 50 Snack Packs each week for students at Pinewood Elementary School in Mounds View. This food helps fill students' tummies over weekends and breaks. Items placed in the snack pack include food students can prepare for themselves like soup, pasta, fruit drinks, fruit sauce, crackers, pudding, snack bars, oatmeal, cereal, and a cookie or treat.
Supporting Youth in our Community
Community Partners with Youth (CPY), is a program that focuses on instilling values of leadership, excellence, honesty, respect, service, and kindness in the children who participate. Abiding Savior Lutheran Church opens its doors each summer to provide a safe space for these children to come each week day during the summer, members also volunteer time in the kitchen to clean up after meals, donate resources such as sports equipment, volunteer on the CPY board, and help in many other ways.
Shobi's Table is a ministry of the St. Paul Area Synod which seeks to put ourselves in the path of our neighbor so they may hear and believe that they are called 'beloved.' Abiding Savior Lutheran Church supports Shobi's Table both financially and with our time. Shobi's Table, a food truck ministry, provides food, friendship, faith and employment skills to the homeless and near homeless people of St. Paul.
Abiding Savior Youth Touching Lives Across the Nation
Abiding Savior Youth attend the ELCA Youth Gathering every four years. They gather among thousands of youth from across the country to worship, provide community service, and donate to larger causes. In 2015, our youth traveled to Detroit, Michigan for RISE UP to build bridges and share their faith stories!
Feeding God's Children
So often we hear about people who are hurting and children who are starving and think "There is nothing I can do to make it better." Throughout the year, children, youth and adults from Abiding Savior experience that there is something we can do to help others who are hurting and help feed starving children around the world by packing food at Feed My Starving Children. In just 2 hours, more than 40,000 meals can be packaged which can feed over 100 children for an entire year! Together we can turn hunger into hope!

Abiding Savior and Makungu Parish
It is such a joy each Sunday morning to watch the children come forward to put money in the globe for our companion congregation Makungu Parish in Tanzania. They are so eager and excited to share their money with others. Our congregation is very blessed to be a part of the Synod's Companion Congregation Partnership with the Iringa diocese in Tanzania. Our bothers and sisters in Makungu Parish share the joy, hope, and love of the Gospel. By partnering together, our offerings assist them in sharing the Gospel in their community in Tanzania. We are also sponsoring six students from the parish to attend secondary school.
