Abiding Savior is one of many congregations across the country that have embraced the healing ministry of the church. One way we do this is through the support of trained Faith Community nurses and a Health Ministry Team. Their goal is to promote wellness of the whole person – body, mind, and spirit.
At Abiding Savior, Faith Community Nurses (also known as Parish Nurses) are volunteer staff members who provide health and wellness resources to the congregation. While they do not provide any “hands on” nursing care Parish Nurses are equipped to:
Provide spiritual care and support through listening, phone calls, and visits
Educate the congregation in maintaining health, lowering health and safety risks, preventing illness, or managing health conditions already present
Provide personal health counseling so you can better understand your medical diagnosis and treatment
Connect you with community and other resources that may be helpful to your situation
I have been married to my husband Larry since 1978. We have three adult sons who all live in the Twin City area. Our oldest son got married in 2009. I am a graduate of St. Olaf College and also completed a Master’s degree program at the University of Minnesota. I have worked in many roles in the field of Maternal Child nursing and still work in a metropolitan hospital in Obstetrics. In 2001, I completed Concordia College’s Parish Nurse training program and have been actively involved in Health Ministry activities at Abiding Savior. My hobbies and interests include reading, walking, biking, and travel.

I have attended Spring Lake Park/Abiding Savior Lutheran Church since I was born. This is my second family. I work at University of Minnesota Hospital as a nurse on the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. I am a volunteer Parish Nurse at Abiding Savior and I truly enjoy the opportunity to share health information with people, answer questions when I can, and assist everyone to live a life that promotes health in mind, body and spirit. In my spare time (what is that?), I love digging in the dirt and enjoying all things that grow in my yard. Sewing, knitting, weaving are good winter activities. Any time is a great time to visit lighthouses, they are a passion with me. I also enjoy my weight lifting exercise while making music with the handbell choir, it's a great way to combine music and exercise.
