Did you ever wonder why bad things happen to good people? It’s a question most of us ask from time to time as we look around the world and see things that just don’t seem fair. The women’s Bible study group will be exploring this question in more depth this summer as we read and discuss the classic book by Rabbi Harold Kushner. Rabbi Kushner’s son, Aaron, was born with a debilitating illness that caused much suffering and resulted in Aaron’s death at age 14. This personal experience of family suffering, combined with Rabbi Kushner’s pastoral role in accompanying people in his congregation through many life challenges, prompted him to delve into the question of where God is at when bad things happen to good people. He looks to Old Testament scriptures, prayer, and his relationship with God to guide his consideration of this difficult life reality.
