Sunday, April 3 – Dr. Jeremy Myers, Associate Professor of Religion at Augsburg University
Professor Jeremy Myers has served in the field of ministry with youth and young adults professionally since 1997. Professor Myers and Pastor Ryan Brodin served on the same church staff together at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church in Fridley.
Dr. Myers loves working with youth and young adults and equally loves helping faith communities like Abiding Savior become more engaged in their lives. He believes young people today are not longing for anything different than previous generations. But the culture in which they experience these longings has grown increasingly complex and the gap between our young adults and congregations is greater than it has ever been. This gap has appeared as congregations have failed to move into this complex culture with their young people. Professor Myers is certain congregations can learn and implement practices that move them into this complex public square where their young adults are seeking to navigate life and faith.
Professor Myers has been a member of the Religion department at Augsburg University since 2006 with specific responsibilities for facilitating the University’s Theology and Public Leadership degree program, the Youth Studies minor, and the Augsburg Youth Theology Institute. He is a rostered Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Join us April 3 for this exciting opportunity to learn about Faith across the generations.
Sunday April 24 – Mission Endowment Sunday: Deacon Kari Alice Olson from Shobi’s Table Food Truck
From its inception, Abiding Savior has been a supporter of Shobi’s Table. Shobi’s Table is a pay-as-you-can food truck that creates and serves from-scratch, delicious, nutritious meals. Volunteers come to help prep the meals and serve at the truck. All of us – from volunteers and employees and donors to guests at the table, are all the foundations of this table based community.
Deacon Kari Alice Olson is driving force behind Shobi’s Table. She brings her culinary experience and skills together with her passion for ministry to not only feed the hungry, but to build relationships, pray and listen.
Shobi’s Table has been the recipient of grants from the Abiding Savior Mission Endowment Fund. It is through the generosity of the Endowment that God is working through Abiding Savior to bless Shobi’s Table and many other ministries in our community and beyond. Come learn more about the expanding reach of Shobi’s Table and the power of generosity shared through the Abiding Savior Mission Endowment Fund.
