We began building our vegetable garden in 2014 to help support our local food shelf (Ralph Reeder). We started with a small plot on the southeast side of our church property and raised 285 pounds of food that first year. In 2015, we revamped a bit and increased our production to 340 pounds. In 2016, we harvested over 408 pounds of fresh vegetables!
The goals of the garden group are to:
- Use the gifts of land, sunshine, and other resources God has given us to grow healthy food to share with our neighbors in need.
- Gather a group of interested gardeners in fellowship.
- Engage our congregation through awareness of our garden as an outreach in our community and solicit their continued support for this important mission.
- Be a visible example of “God’s Work, Our hands”.
