Worship is at the heart of all we do as Christians. At Abiding Savior, worship is meaningful and inspiring. On Sundays the church is filled with people of all ages and all walks of life who come together to praise God and to grow in faith. Through worship we hear God’s word to us, bring our prayers and concerns to God, receive the good news that we are loved, freed and forgiven children of God, share in Holy Communion, and recharge our spiritual batteries to go out and serve God during the rest of the week. Come as you are, we are expecting you!
SUNDAY WORSHIP SCHEDULE
9:00 AM Traditional Worship (September – mid-May)
Traditional Worship is held in the Sanctuary with organ, traditional hymn singing, and Evangelical Lutheran Worship (cranberry hymnal) liturgies. This service features special music by the Senior Choir and the Jubilation Ringers Hand Bell Choir as well as occasional music offered by our children’s vocal and hand bell choirs.
11:00 AM Contemporary Worship (September – mid-May)
This service is led by the Reigning Grace worship band and uses contemporary worship songs to offer praise to God. It offers a more laid back style of worship which is new, but still familiar. This service is family friendly. It is shorter and includes a Children’s Time when the children leave to have story time during the sermon.
Summer Worship Schedule (May 21st – Labor Day weekend)
Beginning May 21st – Labor Day weekend, we will be having one worship service at 10:00 a.m. The services will be a blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles through out the summer. Please join us!
WEDNESDAY WORSHIP @ 6:30 PM
Wednesday Worship is a new worship service on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall starting September 12, 2018. This exciting new worship service is less than half an hour long, family and kid friendly, and totally relaxed. We will be singing songs, praying together, hearing God’s Word and a short reflection from one of the pastors, and sharing communion weekly.
Wednesday Worship is not the same as Sunday worship. The format is different and the message is original. Therefore, even if you regularly attend worship on Sunday, Wednesday Worship will be fresh and new. If you are looking for something different to better meet your spiritual needs or those of your family, Wednesday Worship offers an opportunity to try something new and innovative. Come beforehand for our Wednesday Night Suppers (served 4:30pm – 6:15pm) and stay afterward for any of our Wednesday evening activities!
WELCOME FAMILIES AND CHILDREN!
During both services, children are invited to join the Children’s Ministry Director or another adult volunteer for a “children’s time”. Children will go to the Preschool room to spend some time connecting with God’s word and one another, experiencing a story or activity that usually focuses on the week’ Gospel message. Parents whose children are reluctant to be away from Mom and Dad are welcome to come, too. We will return to the sanctuary after the sermon, to allow children to participate in the remainder of the worship service with their families.
EDUCATION HOUR BETWEEN SERVICES
Education Hour is from 10:05 AM to 10:55 AM between services for all of God’s children, young and old. Sunday School begins at age three and weekly Adult Forums are offered. Once a month a wonderful hot brunch is served and good fellowship is shared by all.
