We are planning a women’s retreat at Heartwood Conference Center in Trego, Wisconsin, Friday, April 19 – Sunday, April 21.
Why go on retreat?
- Retreat is a time set apart. It is time to be with God and to be supported by Christian friends. Women tend to take responsibility for so many other people and things. Retreat is a time of setting aside the many responsibilities that call for our attention so that we can have the time to relax, recharge, and refresh.
- As we take time with God in the beautiful nature setting of Heartwood, life’s worries become lighter. As we spend time listening for God’s word for us, our souls are nurtured. The flight attendant’s advice rings true, “Put on your own oxygen mask first, then assist others.” Retreat time gives us a chance to breathe deeply, to refresh our souls, and to strengthen us for the many things that call for our time and attention when we return to daily life. As we are rested and rejuvenated, we are better able to serve others.
What’s the Theme?
- Our women’s retreat will focus on Journeys of Faith – faith of women from the Bible, women in our world, and our own stories as well. Stories are so powerful. They draw us in as we learn about the lives and experiences of people that are similar to our own, yet each one is unique. As we hear these stories of God at work in and through women it will prompt us to think anew about how God is at work in our own lives.
What’s the Plan?
- We’ll begin with dinner on April 19 and close with worship that will conclude before noon on the 21st. Throughout the weekend there will a comfortable mix of group sessions and free time to enjoy the natural beauty and amenities at Heartwood Conference Center. There will be time for playing games, doing puzzles, going for walks, sitting by the fire, enjoying time with friends, doing service projects, walking the labyrinth, and even taking a nap if you want a little snooze!
- For our service project, we’ll be assembling kits for “Days for Girls”, an organization makes and compiles reuseable menstrual supplies for girls and women around the world. For more information about supplies you could donate for this project, please click HERE.
